Wordy Wednesday: SamCat, Guest Blogger II

looking for my granny

Hello uprights and four legs! I, SamCat the Ripper have been allowed by my upright, Sakura, to do a guest blog today. I am still rather nervous after the post Tuesday about NC Clogging and Irish dancing. She just clomped and stomped all around the kitchen while singing a song about some guy named Joe who has a cotton eye. Weird, yes?

But anyway…I sat at my favorite place at the window today looking out at the world. The grass had been cut by the male upright Monday evening and there were birds everywhere! I think the cut grass made it easier for them to find worms and bugs. It was a lot of fun watching them hopping about or doing that little short legged run they do. I wanted to go out and chase them but I am not allowed. But at least I get to watch them.

I was raised in a rescue shelter. I was born there. People came and adopted my mom and brother and sisters but no one wanted me. I lived in a cage for several birthdays. My picture was posted on the internet thing. People would come to look at me and other cats, but I was always left. I think you can tell from my picture that I am a handsome boy. I was always very polite and purred and snuggled and did my best to get someone to love me enough to take me. But the other cats were chosen, not me.

One day, one of the uprights at the shelter came and told me, SamCat, today another upright is coming to look at you and Boodles. Be a good boy and if you feel good about her, let her know. I was taken into a room and there I saw my upright Sakura for the first time. When she saw me, she smiled. What a pretty handsome guy you are, SamCat. I was put into her arms and I could feel her heart beating very fast. I looked up into her face and those wet things were coming out of her eyes. I thought she was sad so I raised myself up and put my arms around her neck and purred and snuggled for all I was worth. I wanted to stop those wet things more than anything.

She held me close and rubbed my head. Oh SamCat, do you want me? she said softly. Really? Would you like to go home with me? And I held on tighter and she began making odd noises and holding me close. I did not know it, but her other cat, Pugsley had died sometime earlier of cancer. She was lonely and needed me as much as I needed her. The lady left us and we sat and hugged and snuggled. SamCat, please be my boy. And she took me to the desk and told them she wanted me. She signed papers and I was put into her car and driven here, where I live now.

Sometimes, she told me, things happen for a reason. And the reason that no one adopted you SamCat, was because you were being saved, just for me. And I agree with her. All that time of being left behind disappeared because the Great Cat Rescuer Who Lives In The Sky wanted me and upright Sakura to be together.

All you other uprights out there, please take care of the animals who live with you. Make sure they have plenty of food, water, and during this summer, please be careful about putting us out in the heat without any shade and water.

If you are lonely, check out your local rescue shelter. I’ll bet there is a special friend there waiting just for you to love. Even if it is…….a dog!

I enjoyed blogging today. My upright Sakura says I can do this sometimes. Thank you! Have a good, safe, happy summer.

Hugs from SamCat the Ripper

This is the sweetest guest blog I have ever read. In turns, I laughed and I cried. Some of the things SamCat said fit with my Lady G and me. I wonder who picks who? I mean, who picks who, REALLY? I’m happy SamCat waited for you. ❤ ❤ ❤ I'm glad SamCat was able to wait that long.

My first Sam, years ago, picked me out when he was just a wee little kitten. He was Samuel Beckett, not waiting for Godot but after a character on an old TV series, Quantum Leap. I’d take him to the vet and they would call out, Dr. Samuel Beckett, Dr. Samuel Beckett…and I’d get up with his big fat 33 pound orange self and take him in for his shot. He was a mess.

We had a 14 year history together. My roomie and I were safehousing and fostering a pregnant cat. She had her kittens and they were adorable, of course. When they were about 6 weeks old, we let them out of their big box where they had been born to explore. We blocked off my bedroom and put them down so they could start seeing the world and practice climbing and doing kitten mayhem. I was lying on my bed reading. I became aware of an odd noise and looked up. there, climbing that high bed, was Sam B. His tiny self had climbed up and he made his way up the length of me and went to sleep on my chest. I had picked out another of the orange boys but he took matters into his own paws. We were totally bonded until his demise 14 years later. he was a very special cat to me and I still miss his big fat spoiled self. He had a prissy walk, like John Wayne.

When I started dating Brad, he let Brad know who was alpha. Most cats hunt little critters. He went next snd bit off young sqash or cukes and brought home. He’d sneak up onbirds but talk the whole time to let them know. He was a very unique boy.

Hi! I am seeking participants. I am part of a virtual blog tour and I get to pick, from those I follow, blogs I enjoy and want to introduce to the folks who follow my blog. It is not an award. I am posting this Monday and if you choose to accept, you would in turn three folks to introduce and answer 4 questions about your blog, how, why, etc. short or long answers. I want to introduce the folk who follow my blog to you and let them enjoy your writing as much as I do. If you don’t want to, that is fine. Let me know by Sunday 06/22/14 Thank you and bless your heart!

Okay, I’ll play because you ask so sweetly and are a joy to know and read. I always have a hard time picking the few out of all the others because I feel they feel I’m turning up my nose at them. Three I can do.
Bless you for this honor. Have a lovely rest of the weekend. 🙂 ❤

Thank you! It was so hard for me as well. I imagine I will do my usual rule breaking and do something a little different. I am so enjoying your trip to Beijing. I am always a bit puzzled at their insistence on the one free beverage. However, with the experiences I have had with the Asian culture in the past umpteen years, it is a perfectly logical bit about this. You also will not see paper and such about on the ground: it is very anti-state, disruptive, gives a bad face to visitors, and…..one is severely punished for dropping trash like that. Remember the case of the young man, several years ago who was caned for throwing down a piece of gum? Of course, I think people who do such things like that, throwing down cigarette butts, etc. should be made to eat what they just threw down. But that is just IMHO…. 😏

I giggle as I read your, “should be made to eat what they just threw down.” Maybe foreign laws are too brutal but ours are too lenient and inefficient.

I think I vaguely recall something about the caning but maybe I’m fooling myself. Again. 😀

Well, SamCat the Ripper, you write a pretty good story. Glad your beloved upright has said you can have another go: I shall look forward to it.
And btw, you are indeed a VERY handsome fellow ! That no-one else took you home must definitely mean that one or other of the gods wanted her to have you. 🙂

Thank Miss M-R. I am very happy with my upright, even if she does have to sometimes use the water squirt bottle at me. I like walking on the kitchen table and sharpening my claws on the sofa. But she loves me anyway. I thank you for liking my guest blog.

My upright and I thank you. She does the most of the work and I am just a sometimes guest. Upright Sakura loves her cats. I am the only one right now because I am that kind of boy. But she has had cats all of her life and isn’t happy without one around. You will get a thank from her but this is from me. I hope you have a good weekend. I am going to try to escape outside and get into mischief. Hugs, SamCat Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2014 14:02:46 +0000 To: thspencer51@hotmail.com
