leaves softly falling
watching them I think of you
I hold one to my lips

It may be off line but those memory joggers that trigger nostalgia and heart aching wistful thoughts might also be what God uses to beckon us back to Him. He is the father watching for the prodigal to come home. He is the husband aching for the wife that always thought the grass had to be greener anywhere else. It is never too late to return to the Lover of our souls. In Him we find our greatest longings met. He says when we delight in Him He will give us the desires of our heart.
