I heard my mom, my upright Sakura talking to my Daddy Braddy about a friend of hers who has a phobia about Friday the 13th – triskadekaphobia…man, that’s a mouthful with change left over!
They got into a discussion about it and mom broke down the Greek words that formed it. My upright Sakura apparently has studied several languages including yogurt language (I loves me some strawberry greek yogurt) and the beer language – he brew.
But anyway, they also talked about some mean ugly movies with that name too – Friday 13th. I think there’s a zillion of them. That’s scary that people would want to watch such ugly movies, don’t you think?
But it made me nervous thinking of a day that just because of its name is bad luck. I’ve had enough bad luck in my short life without making a special day for it. Mom was doing laundry and I snuck into the room for that and saw a basket of upright clothing in a basket. I didn’t think twice – I jumped up and burrowed to the bottom. I was going to hide from Friday 13.
My upright Sakura came in and saw me. She pulled me out and snuggled me up close. “Whatsa matter SamCat? Huh? Scared?” and I nuzzled up close feeling all safe. She says, “I know Daddy Braddy and I were talking about some scary things, but really, Friday 13 is just another day, like Friday 12. And besides, Friday 13 is a lucky good day – it is the day you came home with me.”
I snuggled closer and began to purr. I wanted her to know that I wasn’t scared anymore. Friday 13 was a lucky day for me because my upright Sakura came and rescued me and asked me if I wanted to come home with her. So after listening to her talk yogurt talk to Daddy Braddy, I guess I have changed to a triskadekaphile! Any day is what you make it, regardless of the date. Everyday now is special for me. And I’ll bet if you think about it really hard, besides those bad days, you have some good ones too!

About time you spoke for yourself, SamCat. You remind me of someone I know. I had no idea ‘his’ face was more pointy than yours, otherwise, you could be related—no, no I said related, not twins… How is that a bad thing? Come on over. We could have tea. Okay. Or something.

And when I want to go out, she doesn’t understand that I really do. She gets mad at me when I climb up the kitchen door and pull down the curtains or jump on the counter and knock things down. She doesn’t understand that I am just trying to get her attention. Uprights are strange sometimes. But I love her.

My Biped buys the best food I’ve ever had and I like her bed. After she finally makes it in the morning, I like to sleep between the pillow. I confess I’m glad she chose me.

Milk? What’s t.h.a.t.? I get delicious soft food mixed in with dry stuff. It’s delicious. Is milk a treat of some kind. I don’t believe anyone has ever given me any treats.

MILK is wondermus. it is white and creamy feeling. When you get through having a few licks, you just lick and lick and lick your face to get every bit of it Whem mom has cerals in a bowl, she pours in the milk and eats the cerals with a spoon. if any milk is left, usually not much, she gives it to me. I get wet food once a day and dry food to graze on through the day. She told me it was good for me and it didn’t have any bad stuff in it. It even has things called cranberries and sweet potatoes in it! The only treat I get is that wondermus milk and that super duper dry food. Your mom needs to give you just a bit of milk…

Oh my. Thank you for all these tips. I have to find the milk in this place. I don’t think she has any, unless I misunderstand. I know she doesn’t eat any cereal jut a white ball she cracks with a spoon. Sigh. you biped sounds so kind. Meow.

That white ball is called an egg. Sometimes I get a little bitty bit and it’s good too. and good for you. She will mix a little bit in with my wet food, but not as often as I want. Does your upright drink coffee? Mine does. She puts milk in her coffee. See if you can talk her into getting a little bit of milk. It’s good for both of you. Mom says older ladies like her needs extra protein and calcium. Good for our hair, teeth, and bones…just like uprights.

My peoples makes m-mm noises when she eats that white ball. Egg, you said? Um. No. She drinks black coffee. No milk. I want to try some. How do I get her to get me some? I tried sitting on her foot when she poured her coffee and almost tripped her. She patted my head and went into the dining-room.

I’m glad you found your upright and feel safe, SamCat. There’s nothing scary about a day or date – in Spain it’s Tuesday 13th that’s considered bad. Before you ask, I’ve no idea why!

It just about scared me into next week! I was only seeing if when I jumped up on the table, if I would slide, like I see those uprights who that “surf” thing. But now I suppose it was a bad thing to do. Nothing broke but it was a mess.
