cicada’s voice – last
song of summer loud across
the brown pasture –
he sings to the clear blue sky
with newfound joy

Ah, lovely image of the cicada singing to the clear blue sky. It must know that autumn is in the air!

I have never really heard cicada’s but and I do not hear the song of grasshoppers any longer.. but I can so much hear the song of the cicada in this tanka.

This little cicada has personality, and a fine voice. I’m happy for him.
Can you see me smile, Kanzen? 🙂
