It is so good to be back after a long trip and visit to my ailing mother. And today is World Poetry Day! For today’s Quadrille, the prompt word is “melt”. Submit your poem of exactly 44 words (not including title) and use the prompt word. Come dance with us the Poetic Quadrille at: http://dversepoets.com/2016/03/21/quadrille-5/
Melt into Spring
Melting into spring is
to melt into rosy flowers and
bright blue skies, drifting
along on clouds… –
To become one with the sound of
wind chimes, a hidden mocking bird
and the coo of doves.
To melt into spring is to melt
into love.

Oh I love the though of becoming one with sound of windchimes… wonderful… many great spring poems today.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 15:52:22
I think we are all more than ready for spring. I am just getting ready to read your poem!
Mar 21, 2016 @ 17:21:29
You had me at “melt”, Toni! Becoming one with spring is a joyous undertaking.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:20:36
It is indeed! I was tempted to scrape my fiddle into the main theme of Ode to Joy but settled for watching the clouds drift in the sky.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 18:00:37
I love melting into spring and I can’t wait to hear the sounds of wind chimes and coo of doves ~ Good to see you back Toni ~

Lovely, all this poetry about spring is making me wistful, it is very cold with lots of snow where I live.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:18:11
Well, I wish I could send some your way! BEst I can do is this pic of my flowering quince and the blue sky. I think it will be light snow tonight, LOL….
Mar 21, 2016 @ 18:09:48
A great line about that hidden mocking bird. Mysterious and evocative.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:17:20
I stood watching him inside the bush moving about and hearing him but he managed to keep from totally esposing himself. He is one of the more established ones. I whisled the opening notes to the XFiles theme and after a few times, he mocked…what fun!
Mar 21, 2016 @ 18:35:35
Of course we are ahead of you as far as seaons…the mockingbirds, doves and finches rule…and the ducks are nesting.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:15:50
Spring began early here and then backed away….but has decided to return. Oh Joy!!!
Mar 21, 2016 @ 18:42:26
Beautiful. I love your line breaks and rhythm, especially toward the end.
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:15:04
Than you so very much!
Mar 21, 2016 @ 18:54:53
So light and airy, just like a beautiful Spring day! It is sunny, windy, and warm here, and my wind chimes are tinkling, and the doves are in love! 🙂 Love your poem!
Mar 21, 2016 @ 21:14:44
Thank you! The wind chimes make me want to dance up into the sky. Beautiful here as well. 🙂

Mar 25, 2016 @ 20:11:00
Thank you. It was a truly melty day….the cardinals kept chirping their “here! right here right here!” and the mockingbirds kept copying them….many smiles at them.

Melting into Spring!! Love this! also, equating spring with love was divine!
Mar 25, 2016 @ 20:06:36
Well, you know that saying – in the spring a young (or any age) man’s fancy turns to love….and the same is true for us women as well.
Mar 26, 2016 @ 06:38:44
That’s for sure!
Mar 22, 2016 @ 08:25:27
Lovely – and the conclusion is perfect.

Thank you!
Mar 22, 2016 @ 08:52:07

Thank you!

It amazes me how much each of us has packed into 44 words. This piece is both stunning & evocative. Spring is all rainfall here in NW WA state, but the plants are lapping it up (not so for my poor basement–the sump pumps are busy). I now am going out to find some new wind chimes for our covered deck.
Mar 25, 2016 @ 20:04:55
New wind chimes seem like just what is needed. I bought a new set myself – longer, bigger brass tubes for a deeper sound….and of course, the tinkly kind that always to me sound like children laughing.
Mar 22, 2016 @ 11:12:33
Chimes and mocking birds… sigh. Lovely images
Mar 25, 2016 @ 20:03:30
Thank you. And lovely sounds!
Mar 22, 2016 @ 12:44:52
Hope you are doing well! I am glad it is spring and cannot wait for summer!
Mar 22, 2016 @ 12:48:30
Hi! Well and hope you and yours are too. I am doing grilled chicken for Easter and using the wonderful Chiavettas. Every time I use it, I think of you and thank you for introducing and send a prayer your way :-). Happy Spring!
Mar 28, 2016 @ 11:12:56
I think of you often – though I am not blogging as much. Prayers are always appreciated! Many blessings to you and your family! Happy Spring!
Mar 28, 2016 @ 21:27:25
I am mainly now posting a true love of mine – poetry. Happy spring – blessed Easter!
Mar 23, 2016 @ 07:45:34
