Quadrille: The Color of the Rose

Today Bjorn is our host for Quadrille Monday.  This is the last session before we go on a two week hiatus over at the dVerse Poets Pub.  Our Quadrilles today must contain as usual, exactly 44 words not counting the title and the word for the day – “rose”.  Rose – a verb, a noun – the red rose, the sun rose.  Come visit us over at dVerse and catch some of these short little wonders.

The Color of the Rose

The rose bloomed
a bright blue and spread her petals
over us all – at her heart
was the golden sun –
and at the end of the day
she let her petals fall
onebyone –
we caught and clutched them tightly –
sleeping, dreaming of tomorrow.

The image of the rose dropping her petals onebyone is poignant, but still the hope of a new day prevails.

Oh I do love the way you used that sky blue image of a rose… there is a hope of bloom again with your words.

Beautiful picture! (The sky is my favorite subject when I shoot.) The personification is very well done and it falls so easily from the tongue.

This poem is a sigh in itself. I love the idea of the sky as a rose. Beautiful.

Delicious – I wanted to hold the petals myself and inhale the scent!

The sky as a rose. I love the quickness of catching the petals “onebyone!” Spell check hates it… but MS doesn’t possess a poetic code. Beautiful poem!

Love that the heart is the sun….and there is quiet acceptance of the seasons, blooming and falling–

What a unique perspective to have that blue sky dropping her petals on us and having us clutch them to dream of a new tomorrow…so beautiful, Toni!

As beautiful as your analogy/metaphor is in itself, still I sense, I feel the Asian influence over it, the words forming a gentle Japanese abstract painting, with the word “rose” is asian script.

May they continue to bloom in the next days to come… Love the thought of tucking them in our sleep. ^^

love the image of the sky as a blue rose with the sun at its center…the photo of the clouds was a lovely addition, as the clouds became the petals.
