the sleeping moon
the moon breathes a sigh of relief –
it is time to go dark,
to disappear behind the clouds
to listen to the stars singing
To watch the blades of grass riffling
to hide the shells on the shore
to close her eyes and dreamless sleep

I really love how the moon might need its rest… a lot of work to be a supermoon…

it is time to go dark

    Take care Toni ~

Even the moon has her dark side, as do we. Lovely.

Lovely, Toni! If I was the moon, I think I’d be relieved when the sun took over so I could listen to the stars singing.

I liked the idea of the moon going to sleep when it becomes dark.

To watch the blades of grass riffling
to close her eyes and dreamless sleep

Let the sleeping moon lie! It would have been tiring being up all night!

I love the idea that the moon needs a breather too and your poem flows so beautifully in the energy of someone who needs a rest.

I really loved this: hide the shells on the shore. And it really does, too. Lovely poem.

I love the personification of the moon that you give us in this. She was so intensely active last week, I can understand her need for rest. Right now, I relate to this, as I’m sure you do. You are so in my thoughts and prayers.

I think sometimes it is hard to be the moon, offering light where needed. I think she may need a nap, when the sun rises.

Yes, Moon. It is nice to relax and enjoy after work is done. 🙂

This piece is comforting, Toni. I enjoyed reading and visualizing it.

this quadrille is perfection, Toni. How lovely and about my favorite subject: the moon in any state. It reminded me of the Goddess Nut from Egyptian mythology. Brava!
