Quadrille Monday: Quadrille #29

De is hosting our Quadrille Monday. A quadrille is a 44 word poem exactly, using a prompted word. De has chosen “balloon” for us today.  Come join us for these wonderful short poems.  Quadrille #29

Mama’s Balloon

Breath of God
blown into a pink balloon.
It grew larger and larger
and it soared and dipped
until one day,
My mother was told
her left ventricle had ballooned out
and it could burst at any minute.
I hope it is quick: aneurysm

There is no rainbow with this balloon. I hope you are able to spend all the time in the world with them

This hurts, Toni. The uncertainty of living with an aneurysm is so scary but then, we all live in uncertainty. I was recently invited to consider: What would you do today if you knew you would die tonight?

In reply to Victoria’s inquiry, I’d like to think I would embrace calmness, preparing for there Grand Transition–but probably I would rage, rage ale-Dylan Thomas, doubting what I had believed for so long. Yes, our minds drifted in the same strata.

I have worked hard to achieve peace in my life. But I am not sure. Life is too real at this point. I’d like to think I would be calm and continue to have faith. But…

Sad to hear that Toni..wishing you strength. Victoria’s question is heavy, so much to think about when faced with time and uncertainty.

So sad and stressful… and if your mama doesn’t really understand it – it’s even more stressful

The heart is subject to a lot of unwanted attention and one is so vulnerable.

My thoughts are with you and yours right now. Peace can also be sitting with discomfort and accepting that it is what it is.My wish for you all is to be able to be present with it all.Love is the way.

This must be challenging for your mother, for you and family. Your writing is so tender and open. May she have many more happy days.

Victoria is right, we all live with uncertainty and I was heartened when you reported that your mother is cheerful and upbeat. If she wasn’t it would be all the worst. My heart is with you, Toni. ❤
