Quadrille Monday #32

At dVerse Poets Pub, De is hosting our quadrille. A quadrille is a poem of 44 words exactly, not including the title and usually includes a prompt word. Today the word is “echo”. this is my last post for awhile as my mother is not doing well and I am taking a hiatus away from dVerse Poets Pub. Blessings on all of you. I will be seeing you all again next month. http://dversepoets.com/2017/05/08/quadrille-32/

Room 214
the elderly woman sits in her wheelchair
looking out the window at the birds
on the birdfeeder.
her mind is filled with echoes and shadows
of years, times, and people past.
her daughter brushes her hair.
voices echo from other rooms.
she drifts asleep.

Heart wrenching and gripping, Toni! I’ve seen this scene too many times and you have captured the very essence of that echo! Spectacular!

So poignant, and so much captured in these few words. I’m sorry to hear about your mother. My thoughts are with you.

Tears. How many times I’ve seen this scene replayed. God bless you and Mama and all the mothers who are there in such situations.

And hopefully she knows how blessed she is to feel the presence of her daughter…. so sad when only echoes are alive

I am sorry your mom is ill. Her thought echoing from the past are a beautiful reminder. That she has you and them is a saving grace at that moment.

Yes, echoes and shadows, and the whispers of time passing, sometimes are loud in our hearts. You have captured the feelings. ❤

Brushing the hair. One of the last things we can do. So tender.

Love how the echoes are different for the old woman, and the daughter ~ A tender gesture, but speaks volume ~

Tender capture of a moment. Echoes of time passing in circles.

Prayers for your mother and you, Toni.
