I am posting this on dVerse Poets Pub for De’s lovely prompt on Quadrille Monday. She requests that we use the word “dream” – dreamer, dreams, dreaming, dreamed – make the noun a verb or the verb a noun – it’s all good! A quadrille is a poetic form that came about a couple of years ago when we were making changes to refresh the Poets Pub. the form has exactly 44 words not counting the title. You must include the prompted word in your poem. Come read these wonderful humming bird tiny poems. I am also posting this to Real Toads Tuesday Platform. Here are the links for both: http://dversepoets.com/2017/08/14/quadrille-38/ and http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/2017/08/the-tuesday-platform_15.html
Crayola Dawn
I see the dawn before the rest
of the world awakens.
I came to this dawn through the moonlight
of my dreams.
I dream of the world in argent shades
and awaken to the Crayola dawn –
It is cool this morning.
I am at peace.

So breathtaking. This is my favorite time of day and you color it dreamy.
Aug 13, 2017 @ 23:23:35
Thank you Victoria.. i seem to be writing a lot of dawn type poems lately rather than my night time ones. But I so love the way the night and dawn times smell.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 16:08:49
I knew what you mean! Such special moments.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 16:18:51
Yes they are special moments, even in winter when it is total blackness outside.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 00:06:28
I love the soothing pastel tones invoked by your dreamy words.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 15:09:18

Aug 14, 2017 @ 10:44:47

Aug 14, 2017 @ 13:19:14
Thank you!
Aug 14, 2017 @ 15:13:49
Love a crayola sky too… dawn is still too early for me at this time of the year though… Sunrise at 5 AM
Aug 14, 2017 @ 15:15:12
Sunrise happens around here, nowadays, around 5:30 am. the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 15:14:23
I see it, too, Toni. Becoming my favorite time of day. This poem brings great peace, and I love your title.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 15:25:42
You’ve Crayola’d me, Toni! Gorgeous Quadrille, especially:

Aug 14, 2017 @ 16:19:24
Thank you Anna. Good to see you here.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 17:13:48
I like the idea of seeing the dawn before everyone else does in one’s dreams.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 19:38:19
Agreee, that was really nice.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 19:56:22
You title & refrain are incredible–CRAYOLA DAWN, like the title of a best-selling novel, or children’s book. or rock band. or fragrance, or a line of summer fashion–really loved this one, Toni–too much chaos & cruelty in the news–we need to refocus on love, reciprocity & inner child.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 20:23:07
I like it as a follow-up to the Last Samurai – Crayola Dawn….LOL. Thank you Glenn.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 20:24:11
I like a Crayola dawn. It does sound quite peaceful 😁
Aug 14, 2017 @ 21:55:07
It is!
Aug 14, 2017 @ 21:21:42
A Crayola dawn, let’s break out a box and color a new day! I really enjoy the thought of a sky in red/orange and orange/yellow.
Aug 14, 2017 @ 21:54:25
Oh yes. And add a bit of baby blue, fuchsia…let’s do color a new day.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 00:58:56
Ah, a very scenic view you’ve painted with words Toni!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 01:06:08
Crayola dawn. how beautiful is that. 🙂
Aug 15, 2017 @ 12:23:53

Aug 15, 2017 @ 01:20:56
I enjoy how the dream brings the poem’s speaker to a peaceful dawn. A beautiful transition from argent tones to crayola shades.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 12:23:40
Thank you Janice.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 01:40:31

Aug 15, 2017 @ 13:34:11
This is beautiful and peaceful. I can relate to it, even though I don’t see colors. I’ve always loved a new box of crayons… Such possibility! And I’ve visited the Crayola factory–a world where there are no rules, and writing on walls is encouraged. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 14:41:43
Actually, I always smelled my new box of crayons first…I loved the smell of new, unbroken and unused crayons. And you visited the Crayola factory – how cool is that!!!!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 15:07:20
Very nice.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 16:03:25
Very lovely.*
Aug 15, 2017 @ 16:20:35
This could also be an aubade, couldn’t it? Not sure. In any event, it’s evocative and lovely. I had to look up “argent.” Now I learned a word. 🙂

Aug 18, 2017 @ 19:29:42
hmmm. Didn’t think of aubade. I guess it could be!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 17:21:37
I love the “argent shades” contrasting with the “Crayola dawn.” Such a vivid description, with connotations of a happy childhood!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 17:26:30
Thank you!
Aug 15, 2017 @ 18:02:01
The title alone is peaceful. There’s a quiet stillness about dawn that’s beautiful, and you capture that well.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 18:08:01
Ah, a beautiful cornflower blue Crayola sky, sigh.
Aug 15, 2017 @ 18:19:33
Yes and baby blue and carnation pink…..
Aug 15, 2017 @ 18:20:47

Aug 15, 2017 @ 19:57:39
