dVerse Poetics – Acrostic!

Today Frank is our Pubtender and has given us an interesting form to meet and greet – the Acrostic. I have always been intrigued with this form, reading the “mysterious” message at the side, envying those who do this form well. I fear I am not one of those but I tried! Come visit with us today at 3:00 pm EST. Pull up a chair at the Bar (after all, we are meeting it!), order something cold from the bar – we have everything from locally brewed beers to sake to lemonade – talk awhile with the denizens of this place, read some excellent poetry, and comment – PLEASE! Don’t just drop your poem and run. We are friendly folk here and all are welcome.

Beyond the Blue Horizon
Evening starts its fall with
Twilight – the sun begins its drop beyond the horizon
Ever spreading – the darkness and silence –
Release of light – release of joy, sorrow – all of it
Never saying goodbye just … until …
In an instant we all will be changed
Trusting that our passage over the skybound river
Yes, on into eternity, onward beyond the stars
will be filled with peace, joy, and reunion with those we love
cats, dogs, people…all of those we love beyond eternity.

Another beauty, Toni, about a magical time of the day! And you’re right about it never saying goodbye – it’s definitely an ‘au revoir’!

Nice acrostic on eternity. I also see that passage as a change of perspective–and reunion.

As do I, obviously. but then I believe in God, heaven, the healing power of Jesus so what can I say? I believe in eternity in heaven – or in hell. Wherever one ends up after being judged. I hope I end up in heaven!

A lovely reflection on eternity. (And you know it’s been a long day when you think the B of the title is part of the word and then can’t figure out what “Beternity” is. ) Hahaha–time for wine! 🙂

Such hope & gentle faith–loved it. Most of us have settled in on one notion or other regarding things beyond the veil; or as Bev calls it “the great Perhaps”.

Thank you Glenn. I actually think of eternity as heaven. An old fashioned notion but onevthat does indeed fill my soul with hope and potential joy in my eventual passing. I was thinking of my parents and grandparents as I wrote this and of their faith that carried them through hard times and through the suffering that long term suffering brings. My mother believed with her last breath and I am filled with peace that she is now in heaven with her parents and my father and all the animals tgat we loved and lost and that she is well and young again.

It will be quite a reunion for me, as it seems more of my friends and loved ones are “there” than “here” any more! I love your poem!

I totally agree although at the rate I am making friends, I seem to have all kinds of folks here that I love. I’ll be happy to meet up with you if I go before you.

Very good Toni, never having to say goodbye, just see ya later. Eternity seems to be on many hearts tonight. I like the comparison; the transition of day and night compared to what lies beyond this life
