For Izy’s prompt at Real Toads for day 26 of NAPOWRIMO (ha! gotcha!): a list with a twist. List five things!
Starry Night
Starry night –
Peepers down at the creek,
The owl in its flight – silent as dust,
A fox and her kittens going single file
in my back yard,
the raccoon seeing what mischief he can get into
(not to mention our garbage bin!)
And of course,
The stars –
The stars in their infinite glory
Flowing through the sky –
Amanogawa*
*amanogawa – Japanese for river of heaven, a kigo often used to denote the Milky Way

I agree with Margaret–this is so serene. Those raccoons!

Mmmm, you make it sound like perfection (even the raccoon),

Glimpsing into the eye of the mischievous raccoon made me smile. That trash can is probably trembling.

I have bungee cords on the bins to try to deter the raccons. They laugh and give me the finger and then dive into the bins. Forgetvhaving a compost heap. Cheeky buggers.

I can almost see the raccoon’s grin. They have such peculiar expressions…

Yes the little monsters do. A;;;though I had a pet one when I was a child. I loved that thing and the dogs and cats in the house did too.
