Hate for School

I hated school. Truly hated it. I loved going to university though and went for a total of 8 years. I hated school so much that at my advanced age, I still shudder at the words “back to school”. I have no nostalgia, no wistful thoughts of back to school. Until I graduated from high school, I hated it. In Junior high, my mother started letting me take one day off a month to just not go.  God bless Mama.  For Amaya’s prompt at dVerse.

Hate for School
Back to school –
Pencils backpacks school bus –
To this day I still shudder.
I watch the school buses
carrying the children to school.
I cannot help but laugh and sing:
nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah
you have to go to school and I don’t.
nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah

I know so many people who feel the same – my husband is one of them!

I loved school once I got used to it, but I can see how it could have been hateful.

I really blossomed in college too. I also went for 8 years. With your intellect, I suspect you were just bored with the structure of K–12.

I see you played in the orchestra. I mentioned this too on the dVerse site, and my most liked class as well. Now I’m considering homeschooling my own kids.

A lot of people do that. Sometimes I am in favor of it, sometimes I am not. It just depends on your devotion and kids and how much time you want to devote your life to it.

As a former teacher, I might be caught singing the same song, lol. Wonder what it was about school that you so hated. Not that I enjoyed it beyond a certain age. Part of deciding to become a teacher was so I could make it more palatable for kids.

I hated leaving my home. I hated the regimentation. I hated the homework. I hated the cookie cutter lessons. A friend said based on my intellect, k-12 bored me. And it did. I didn’t even go to my graduation They mailed me my diploma.

I am surprised your mother was able to let you take off a month from school. Maybe there was some sort of home-schooling arrangement.

Your experience was not mine, but I am sure many children felt as you did. It is hard to plan a program for so many individuals!

For some kids, elementary school can be about sitting still and being boxed in and that is really a shame. I hope the early education system has improved since our days.

LOL. Lillian I have no hopes for education in America where even adults don’t know how to spell and don’t care

Well, ur rite there. The only abbreviations I used to know were Ibid. etc. etal. And when I got a pen pal, ASAP! Spell checker was my dictionary which I found a little silly because you had to know how to spell the word to look it up in the dictionary! 😊🙃
Now I know LOL but usually have to ask my grand kids to decipher their shorthand messages!

I know. I find myself constantly correcting people when they say “your wrong!” I always reply, you’re wrong, you’re wrong. Yes, I am the Gramma Nazi and damned proud of it.

The sounds and scenes are inviting, especially the rocking chair.
