Such simple, clear beauty as in the opening line is why haiku was invented in the first place — an instant cup of soothing washes down my throat when I read it. It’s really all we need, when you think about it — simplicity and a light touch of color.

Thank you Shawna. I agree. It seems open link time has become post a long add poem time. But this haiku was how my Christmas morning was when I took my walk this morning

You had a wonderful walk, Toni. The beginning of wintertime is one of Mother Nature’s top showings.

The sound of the crow is so fitting for a day close to solstice.

I love the sound of the lonely crow, Toni, and I’m glad you have a pale blue winter sky and some solstice sun – we are just grey here.

With the temperature in South Australia approaching 40 degrees C (104 deg F) it is hard to write much about the winter here at the moment!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Toni!! Your work has enriched my life this year.

Lovely Toni – and perfect – the breath inhaled, held for a pause, and exhaled.
A quiet reflection befitting the day and holiday season.
All the best for the holidays to you and I hope you are recovering well from your nasty fall. May you be safe and well and I hope the new year brings nothing but the best of your heart’s wishes.

The image of the crow is so befitting near the winter solstice 😊
