Day 19 NAPOWRIMO Kerry’s prompt at Real Toads – your muse

The Sensitive Plant Frank Dicksee
The Girl With Kaleidscope Eyes
“Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes And she’s gone.” Lennon/McCartney
Sitting in the ancient oak
pondering,
thinking –
his empty eyes
as he hung from the ceiling,
remembering the look in my mother’s eyes
as she lay dying.
Hearing the birds in the forest
and across the way,
the one lone crow.

Yes, I guess most would agree, the crow’s voice outstanding, not lovely like the song birds, but definitely you can pick him out. I also remember the look in my Mother’s eyes at that time, a subtle grey, like the sky just before rain…more beautiful with each day.

My muse is in my eyes for sure. Beautiful poem

I am remembering the look in my mother’s eyes, too, as she lay dying…….and envisioning that one lone crow…….

These views of the eyes, all sombre, speak of much contemplation.

Loved your song opener, I still do but haven’t been hearing it lately.
Who is the bird having from the ceiling? I’m guessing a male, brother or friend, in messed up trouble. I enjoyed every word.

Sometimes the Muse is the thing that won’t leave us alone, and we have to write about it. I find it does help.

Yes. It does. And our Muse changes from time to time

Yes, the many directions in which the Muse points us. I’ve contemplated all those, too.
