I Took a Walk

I Took a Walk
“Life is complicated. It’s filled with nuance. It’s unsatisfying. … If I believe in anything, it is doubt. The root cause of all life’s problems is looking for a simple fucking answer.” Anthony Bourdain

They say the world is getting hotter,
that ice caps are melting at an alarming rate.
From my point of view
I see the world getting colder.
People not caring –
about the animals going extinct,
about the wild fires,
about deforestation
about the hungry and the homeless.
a picture of a smiling two month old baby
was in the paper today – dead.
Her parents neglected her
and filled her system with heroin and cocaine.
I weep at that smiling baby’s death wearing a little tee shirt – “I love daddy”
“I took a walk in this beautiful world,
felt the cool rain on my shoulder.
I took a walk in this beautiful world,
I felt the rain getting colder.”

Oh my goodness, Toni. The coldness of peoples’ hearts, the not caring , the apathy, this is our greatest danger. I am not sure why people are not waking up. Have we given up as a species? We dont have that right, there are young ones, and all of the creatures, wild and domestic, who depend on us to not give up. That news item chills me to the bone. “I love daddy” just kills me.

The oicture of the baby made me put my head down and bawl. The smile on that baby’s face broke my heart.

Well that’s bleak. There is still plenty of good in the world.

Yes it is. There was a news story in the paper today about the death of a two month old baby who died with cocaine and heroin in her system. Her garbage can parents neglected her, starved her. There was a picture of a smiling baby. It got to me. Very deeply.

How little we care for the planet or ourselves and all the other inhabitants on Earth. Sadly mankind is upsetting the balance through greed and apathy but worse still we elect the worst rulers of our nations so we can never correct our mistakes.

So heartbreaking! Many years ago here in India I saw in a newspaper a picture of a baby thrown away by its careless mother (or don’t know who) on the road and being guarded by two/three dogs to save the newborn from a possible harm. When the ambulance workers came they let the baby go with them.
