Haibun: The Crinoline

Quadrille Monday at dVerse. A quadrille is a poem of exactly 44 words sans title, using the given word for the poem. In this case, nick.

Haibun:  The Crinoline
“Children were huge, wild creatures full of promise and hope and dirt and mischief.” ― Nalini Singh, Silver Silence

My teenaged aunt was chasing me with murder in her eyes.  I had nicked her crinoline from the closet and was joyfully dancing across the yard in it.
grass stains on pink net –
the crinoline was ruined,
so was her dress for the date

Hi Toni. Wonderful use of the word nick in your quadrille. Did she ever forgive you?

She can be extremely mad but it is the fun remembered in growing up with those close to us that justifies childhood pranks!

Ohhhhh…..I can see you as a young girl in this toni….you were a devilish imp in this instance! I can just see this in an old 9 mm family movie…it would make a great little sequence! 🙂 Made me smile!
