Cartoon Chefs

For Victoria’s prompt on dVerse – pop art  and poetry.

Cartoon Chefs
“I love poking fun at myself. I have a rather mean sense of humor.” Alton Brown

Bam! It’s a good thing.
Now how easy is that?
Oh bother.
The phrases of the popular chefs on the tv
roll off the tongue
like cartoon colored plastic knives.
I don’t use a one of the phrases
sometimes I use a technique
or a recipe.
I love Bourdain, Brown…
sexy men who walk out of a Warhol painting
and steal my heart every single time.
Bam! Let’s kick it up a notch.
You will love it,
I gair-on-tee it.

So fun. I like Alton Brown, too, and I like how you tied in other popular phrases like Warhol would have done. “15 minutes of fame”to you, my friend.

A perfect choice for you, charming the pants off the prompt. It was great to read the fun you had writing this. I’m still a Tony B. fan; with the reruns.

I’ve never heard of Alton Brown, but I love the onomatopoeia and the sense of humour in this poem, Toni.

Alton Brown is low key. He is the true science guy. He gives you the whys and how things work, the history of a food. He has been pn TV now 14 years and always flies under the radar. He is the one the so called chefs always refer to. He isn’t sexy and tragic like Bourdain the exotic world traveller. He actually made a scrummy pud the other day and yes, it was authentic because that is how he rolls.

I like Alton too, he puts a scientific spin on cooking. Well done Toni!
