For dVerse Poets Pub. Today is Quadrille Monday.
Peeling Fruit
“What can we expect from an empty shell Where many hearts of pearl once beat to dwell, Waves fail to break hard layer’s bond of love, Wailing shore sends memoir to the sky above” ― Munia Khan
The knife plunges into the blood orange
and the chef pulls back the peel
and rips it from the orange.
the blood orange seeps red liquid.
I feel just like that orange.
the orange bleeds juice –
the human bleeds tears.
the knife keeps ripping.

I like the comparison of the juice from an orange like a bleeding.
Feb 24, 2020 @ 15:23:46
Your quadrille is so full of pain, Toni, it smelled of blood orange, and the sound of a knife ripping echoed through it. I wish I could offer some meaningful words of comfort, but I can only appreciate your words.
Feb 24, 2020 @ 15:37:10
Your words are beautiful Toni and so true.
Feb 24, 2020 @ 15:46:29
A blood orange violated by a knife is a perfect analogy. I feel privileged to be part of an audience of fellowship; bless you.

Orange a diluted red, tears diluted blood. It’s painful and cutting, and the emotion seeps out of your poem.

You are gifted, dear lady in expressing yourself so purely. The pain bleeds in your words and I think we should feel honoured to read them as you share your grief (love) so intimately.

“the human bleeds tears” — Sometimes I think it would be easier to bleed blood than tears, but we don’t get to choose our pain in this life.
Feb 26, 2020 @ 20:23:34
“The knife keeps ripping” – that is a true description of grief.
