Haibun: Eta Aquarids

Every year the earth passes through the remnants of Halley’s Comet. The dates of the Eta Aquarids are approximately April 19 – May 24. This is a haibun for De’s Quadrille prompt at dVerse. The word for the day is “up”.

Eta Auqarids
“When beggars die, there are no comets seen; the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.”
William Shakespeare

In the pre-dawn hours of Monday, I sat in darkness watching the Eta Aquanids. Up in the sky I watched the earth passing through the remnants of Halley’s Comet debris – an incredible display of fireworks.
