a gogyoshi for Open Link Night at dVerse. A gogyoshi has five lines like a cinquain or tanka. However – that is the only “rule” for this Japanese poetic form. No syllable count, no rhyme or rhythm required. Exactly five lines, any style.
Cedars
cedars in the meadow
lined up in a row –
all is silent in the snow
except for the lonely call
of a crow.
Cedar – Ansel Adams 1956

Walking Crow
crow walks down the middle of the road –
looks neither right nor left.
flaps his wings
and keeps on truckin’ –
he turns into our drive
as if he had business with us.
I open the door and call out to him.
he looks at me and then flies away.
guess he had the wrong address.

The haikai challenge today is crow. I love crows. Seems to be the theme for the day.
