The Cat

Sunday Muse BlogSpot #55  For Carrie’s prompt

The Cat
“I have lived with several Zen masters — all of them cats.” – Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

She was a thin black and white feral cat,
extremely pregnant,
just looking for a safe place to birth her kittens.
Five little bits of fur,
in an abandoned cooler in my garage.
I am saddened by the thoughts
that this is the place she picked for safety.

The Photograph

Sunday Muse #53. Ortography is the belief that the last thing seen on a dead person’s eyes is forever imprinted on the lens of the eye. One of the usese fir this was that of the murder of Mary Kelly by Jack the Ripper. Ortigraphy is a pseudoscience.
The Photograph
“There is one thing the photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment.” Robert Frank

The photographer put up his tripod, adjusting the lens.
The girl’s eyes were wide open.
He held the lamp over her
trying to see if there were an image
imprinted on her eye.
He pressed the bulb
and the chemicals exploded –
a flashpoint of light.
When he developed the glass plates
he was surprised.
The image on the photographic paper
was that of the girl herself.
