At dVerse today, we begin the first session of a new challenge: Quadrille – a word prompt and a poem to be written to that word in 44 words exactly. Bjorn is the ring leader in this wonderful adventure. I had to learn to do quadrilles years ago in Cotillion Class – a unique form of torture in the South. Today the prompt word is “dance” – as David Bowie said, Let’s dance…put on your red shoes…let’s dance. I love to dance and love to write poetry. Winner!!! Come join us – http://dversepoets.com/2016/01/18/quadrille-1/
Snow swirling in the wind
Whispering in my ear
– Dance with me
to my silent music
Like Astaire and Rogers
I’ll lead you follow
Let me stir your blood –
our private dance
only the moon will see
Our white hot rhumba
In the night

Wonderful movement in this one, & for some reason I see in my mind a nearly naked maiden being seduced by wind & snow & magic; smile.

Oh, you romantic one, you! To be able to dance like Rogers & Astaire would be heavenly!
Jan 18, 2016 @ 19:46:06
I love this!
My ear wanted it dance it around to be “Rogers and Astaire” instead of “Astaire and Rogers,” to bring in the sound again from “ear” a few lines above it. 😉

Boy, do I love to dance too ~ Forget winter and dance ~ Love this ending:
Our white hot rhumba
In the night

That’s quite romantic. I don’t see snow here much. Makes me wish I did. Thanks for the dance.

Beautiful and “white hot”, even though it may be a snow dance! Great job, I always loved watching Astaire and Rogers dancing.
Jan 18, 2016 @ 22:56:28
Yup, that definitely stirs the blood 😛

We had the same inspiration today! The dancing of snow is beautiful to watch.

Dancing with snow swirling outside can be quite an experience. It is a question of wanting it to happen!

Exactly the softness of how a dance should be… Hot and burning like the swirl of snow…
Jan 19, 2016 @ 08:05:11
Oh….smiling I am! LOVE this one! Snow swirling, the grand photo and mention of Astaire and Rogers…ending with a white hot rhumba! 🙂 Fabulous. Now this is the way to start my morning. Thank you!

Great juxtaposition of “white hot rhumba” set against the cold of snow.

Very sensuous. Loved this passage, “our private dance / only the moon will see”
Jan 19, 2016 @ 15:57:41
and many times, only the moon did see…smiles.
