Haibun: Hunting Hawks
The sun gave a wink and suddenly, it was fall. I awoke to frost on the lawn and leaves changing from green to gold. Hawks glide slowly in the sky, hunting for food.

I really like this, Toni. It did seem like the sun winked and it was autumn. I love the imagery, but particularly the haiku with the spicy leaves seasoning the blue sky. That’s just how it was here a few days ago.

We (Texas Gulf Coast inlands) have had a lovely fall, temps into the 80F’s high, occasional low 90’s, then lows in the 60’s and 70’s. It came early this year for us, mid October and has lasted already three weeks. It is projected for another month, gradually cooling more.

Such a vivid scene of colour and movement…the busy transition of fall. Those hawks would be beautiful to watch. I always feel privileged or blessed when I see one.
