Another poem for dVerse Poetics 2:00 a.m. prompt, offered by Anthony. I am a night owl and write the majority of my poems at night. Many of them are titled with the date and the time of composing.
Black night sky:
I descry through blacker branches
The hazy moon behind clouds.
Flakes of snow falling
Like dust or wet stars.
Each dims out
One.by.one.

Love those “blacker branches,” especially.

Nice allusion between the snow and falling stars. The falling stars could be wishes which ads weight to them all winking out.

That is a happier thought than them melting and dying 🙂

Love it, but this gave me pause, “Like dust or wet stars.” Makes me smile. You paint wonderful images, Kanzen. ❤ ❤ ❤

I don’t know about that talent stuff, Kanzen. We all have something and we use it the best way only each of us can individually. ❤ ❤ ❤

This is true. But your talent for fiction prose is extraordinary.

You make me want to weep. I still don’t see it–not because it’s easy–it isn’t. It’s because of the struggle to get it the way I want or which works best . ❤ ❤ ❤

“One.by.one” is such a wonderful way to show separation in quick succession. The pause is there, but slight, which I am enamored with. Beautiful words. “One trick pony” my arse!

Thank you. I borrowed, with permission, the de.vic.e. from a friend who is a wizard with flash fiction. She often uses it for emphasis though, different from how I often use it. She mainly uses in her comments or emails. I use it exclusively in my poetry but she is sweet soul and more than happily said to copy and she herself cannot remember where she picked it up.

The way you describe the fading stars in snow is glorious.

Yes.. the impermanence of sky at night.. is perhaps a Universal
understanding.. that all changes.. and nothing.. not
even stars.. remain
the same..:)

love the “wet stars” description of snow! We actually had a bit falling here over the weekend…I guess that’s what I get for living in Canada!
