Pleasures of green
emerald, peridot, jade –
jewels of summer –
largesse of fields freed for us
to scoop up and enjoy –
a green lover that touches and teases
all our senses –
taste, smell, sight, touch.
smooth skins, hard lengths,
pleasures of green.
Warm, inviting – waiting for our use.

We are getting produce from Florida and South Carolina at this point. Mid-June, we’ll start getting veggies from local fields and farmers markets. Down the road from me a little bit, a family grows free range chickens – Aracana – their eggs are smaller and lovely shades of pink, pale blue, green. Natural. You really can crack green eggs to have with ham!

I’m one of those weird people who would as soon eat those green veggies as a steak. Actually, I much prefer. Wish you would come and see David’s vegetable garden. He’s planting the last of it today.

Yummy! I can’t wait for the green beans at our local farmer’s market. The first day of the market was last Saturday, but for me the first official day is always when the first vendor has green beans for sale. 🙂

Yes! My favorite jewels. Add to that the rubies of tomatoes and topaz of squash and you have the Crown Jewels.
